The Grand National

A Race with Dramatic Finish and 2 Tragic Deaths.

Yesterday my family and I sat down to watch the Grand National. It was very exciting and we all thoroughly enjoyed watching the horses have fun racing each other around the course. Sadly two horses had to be put down due to leg fractures, I guess it was the kindest thing to do for them. The finish was epic – by a nose. Look at this picture:

Read the full race report by Claire Duffin, Cole Moreton and Shekhar Bhatia in The Telegraph.

I can’t help thinking that if I was a vet I would have to put animals down and I don’t think it would be easy. But then again if it is the kindest thing to do I would like to think that I am not making an innocent animal suffer. Maybe dealing with the owner is even more difficult. It could be very upsetting for all concerned.

I would like to say R.I.P to Synchronised and According to Pete, tragic deaths.
