Rape – where is it?

It’s Harvest Time.

I blinked and the rape (Brassica napus) has gone! It seems only a few weeks ago the fields were yellow with the flowers of oilseed rape. A couple of weeks back they sprayed and the crops died and went that golden/brown “it’s time to harvest” colour and now it has gone! The main yellow flowers to be seen in the countryside now are Ragwort, which seems to be everywhere.

Anyway the answer to the first question “where is it?” is that it is here! A shed full of the tiny little black seeds of oil seed rape. I was going to try to calculate how many seeds there are in this shed and then I thought… it’s a lot!
