Music

Things Musical in early 2013.

The first 4 months of the year have had an unusual number of musical highlights

At the beginning of February I went with a group of 5 close friends to see the X Factor live tour show in Nottingham. It was really good and we really enjoyed it although we were all a bit knackered at school the next day. The winner before Christmas had been James Arthur, followed by: ii) Jahméne Douglas; iii) Christopher Maloney; iv) Union J; v) Rylan Clark; vi) Ella Henderson; vii) District3; viii) Kye Sones; ix) Jade Ellis; x) MK1; xi) Melanie Masson and xii) Carolynne Poole. It will be interesting to see if we remember any of them in a few years time.

A week or so later I went on a school trip to London to see the musical Wicked, “the untold story of the Witches of Oz”. This was with my GCSE music class. It was fun but, to be honest, I’m not really into musicals.

In early March my sister and I competed in a local music competition at the Colsterworth Festival of Performing Arts. My sister entered 2 classes and won one of her classes and brought home a massive trophy. I entered 7 classes and won 5 and got 2 trophies!

I recently came across a you tuber called Madilyn Bailey who has a beautiful voice which I love! Here is an example of her singing a Taylor Swift song called “We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together”.

You can listen to some of her recordings on soundcloud.

Finally at the end of April I went to Nottingham to see Ludovico Einaudi in concert. It was fabulous to hear him live. I have played a lot of his work and I did a composition in the Einaudi style for my Music GCSE. I couldn’t find an actual recording of him playing in Nottingham but this video is pretty good.

I would love to go to another of his concerts.
